Policy experts to debate higher ed funding model

Two experts on public policy will discuss how Michigan funds higher education at a “Coffee House Debate” hosted by the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies.

The debate will take place on Tuesday, October 21, from 1:30-2:45 p.m. in the Loosemore Auditorium on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

Policy experts Gilda Jacobs and Jarrett Skorup, from the Michigan League for Public Policy and the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, respectively, will debate how higher education in Michigan should be funded.

Their discussion will focus on funding but will also address how funding impacts the large array of needs universities must serve, from providing workers with competitive degrees to teaching critical thought and providing space for individuals to explore and grow.

RSVPs are requested, and can be provided here: hauensteincenter.org/rsvp
