The Office of Multicultural Affairs will host the Professionals of Color Lecture Series with two upcoming events on February 4 and 6.

Presented by the Asian Student Union, “Beyond Math Geeks and China Dolls: Overcoming Stereotypes About Asian Americans to Find Success in the Real World,” will take place on Tuesday, February 4, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Cook-Dewitt Center. The event will be hosted by Yul Kwon, head of the Privacy Program for Facebook. Kwon, from New York, has worked at PBS, KCETLink and CNN and, in 2006, he became the first Asian American to win the show “Survivor.”

Presented by the Seidman College of Business, “Effective Leadership and Service” will take place on Thursday, February 6, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Cook-Dewitt Center. The event will be hosted by Grand Rapids native Patrick Miles Jr., a Harvard graduate and first African-American partner for Varnum LLP.  Miles served as president of the Grand Rapids Bar Association from 2004 to 2005 and was appointed by President Obama as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan in 2012.

Both events are approved for LIB 100 and 201 classes.
