Grand Valley will host the biannual Michigan Research Ethics Conference Friday, April 25, at the Eberhard Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
The conference is sponsored by the Michigan Research Ethics Consortium, comprised of state academic, health care and research institutions: Grand Valley, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Spectrum Health, Mercy Health, Metro Health and Van Andel Institute.
Keynote speakers will be Bruce Gordon, professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center; and Cindy Shindledecker and Lois Brako, from the University of Michigan. Gordon’s morning presentation will cover consent and regulatory requirements for informed consent. The afternoon session will focus on protecting human research subjects with flexible policies.
Many Grand Valley faculty members will lead breakout sessions. The conference will run from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $150.
