Scholars detail research at showcase
Thirty Student Summer Scholars presented their original research July
29 at the S3 Summer Showcase in Kirkhof Center, sponsored by the
Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship.
The McNair and Student Summer scholars spent 12 weeks working
with a faculty mentor on a project. Robert Smart, vice provost for
research administration, called the showcase one point in a path
toward lifetime scholarship.
“Scholarship in all forms is one of the pillars at the
university,” said Smart, who also serves as executive director of the
Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence. “To have undergraduates
engaging in original research is a pinnacle of education at Grand Valley.”
