Three events enhance "History of Space Photography" exhibit
The Grand Valley State University Art Gallery exhibition, “The
History of Space Photography,” features 50 noteworthy images from the
last 50 years of space exploration, through March 21. Three upcoming
events, throughout the Allendale Campus, are planned in conjunction
with the ongoing exhibit. All events are open to the public with free admission:
Big History - The History of Everything by Craig Benjamin
Wednesday, March 12, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Cook-DeWitt Center
Professor Benjamin’s discussion of Big History examines the
connections among diverse histories - on a very large scale and
through a multidisciplinary approach.
New Music Ensemble Annual Composition Competition
Thursday, March 13, 8-9 p.m., GVSU Art Gallery, Performing Arts Center
Grand Valley student composers create 60-second works in
response to “The History of Space Photography” exhibit. A judging
panel chooses three winners for cash awards, and the audience favorite
also wins a prize.
What’s Up with the Spring Sky: Sky Viewing with Doug
Furton
Sunday, March 16, 7-9 p.m. (weather permitting) Area 51
Kirkhof Center
Join Doug Furton, Grand Valley professor of physics and
astronomy, for a planetarium tour of the sky, followed by a chance to
see the moon and Jupiter through a classic 4-inch Unitron refractor telescope.
