Three events enhance "History of Space Photography" exhibit

The Grand Valley State University Art Gallery exhibition, “The History of Space Photography,” features 50 noteworthy images from the last 50 years of space exploration, through March 21. Three upcoming events, throughout the Allendale Campus, are planned in conjunction with the ongoing exhibit. All events are open to the public with free admission:

Big History - The History of Everything by Craig Benjamin
Wednesday, March 12, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Cook-DeWitt Center

Professor Benjamin’s discussion of Big History examines the connections among diverse histories - on a very large scale and through a multidisciplinary approach.

New Music Ensemble Annual Composition Competition
Thursday, March 13, 8-9 p.m., GVSU Art Gallery, Performing Arts Center

Grand Valley student composers create 60-second works in response to “The History of Space Photography” exhibit. A judging panel chooses three winners for cash awards, and the audience favorite also wins a prize.

What’s Up with the Spring Sky: Sky Viewing with Doug Furton
Sunday, March 16, 7-9 p.m. (weather permitting) Area 51 Kirkhof Center

Join Doug Furton, Grand Valley professor of physics and astronomy, for a planetarium tour of the sky, followed by a chance to see the moon and Jupiter through a classic 4-inch Unitron refractor telescope.
