Town hall set to report on climate study findings

The Campus Climate Implementation Committee will hold a town hall meeting to report on the progress made at Grand Valley since the 2011 campus climate study.

The town hall is set for Tuesday, February 11, in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room, from 10-11:30 a.m. The Pew Grand Rapids Campus can be involved by participating via a simulcast at the L. William Seidman Building, room 1008.

Dwight Hamilton, associate vice president for Affirmative Action, said three subcommittees — representing students, faculty, staff — will report on the climate study survey results and the action plans each subcommittee created. The event will also include a discussion of recommendations provided by Gender Identification and Expression committee, which was created to address ways to make the university more inclusive.

Committee chairs who will lead the town hall include Marlene Kowalski-Braun, assistant vice provost for Student Affairs; Sean Huddleston, assistant vice president for Strategic Implementation; Danielle DeMuth, associate professor of women and gender studies; Connie Dang, director of Multicultural Affairs; and Colette Seguin Beighley, director of the LGBT Resource Center.
