Each month, Grand Valley’s Women’s Commission will host “Conscious Conversations,” a general meeting that will begin by discussing a different, current topic.

The first Conscious Conversation is “Race and Gender in ‘Orange is the New Black,’” set for Thursday, October 2, at noon in the Kirkhof Center, room 1104. Faculty and staff members who participate are encouraged to bring their lunches.

Other topics include establishing family friendly workplaces, raising daughters, and competing and judging among women.

For more information, visit www.gvsu.edu/wcommission. Established in 1996, the commission advocates for all women on campus; its leadership team said this year they are committed to creating dialogue on campus, celebrating achievements and exploring advocacy issues.
