Arts at Noon welcomes West African master musician

The 38th season of the Arts at Noon concert series continues Wednesday, November 11, with a performance by master kora player, Alhaji Papa Susso.

Susso, from The Gambia, West Africa, hails from a long line of Griots (traditional oral historians) of the Mandinka people. He was taught the kora (African harp-flute) by his father and has been honing his musical artistry since the age of five. Susso has performed at Carnegie Hall, as well as made appearances with the Detroit Symphony, St. Louis Symphony and Chicago Symphony orchestras. His ensemble will present a concert of traditional African music and dance.

All concerts take place in the Cook-DeWitt Center on the Allendale Campus, begin at noon, and last approximately one hour. Each concert is free and open to the public.
