COW provides opportunities for Laker volunteers
Lakers around the world will volunteer and provide support to
hundreds of projects during a dedicated week of service, March 21-28.
Community Outreach Week is sponsored by the Alumni Association
and the Community Service Learning Center.
Projects have already been created in Allendale, Chicago,
Detroit, Hawaii and Phoenix, and many other locations. Students,
alumni and friends can join an existing project or create a new one; a
list is available online at www.gvsu.edu/cow. Service
opportunities range from outdoor clean up, to food banks and day care centers.
Participants who sign up by March 13 will receive a collectible
bandana. Prizes will also be given away to select winners who share
photos and videos on social media using the hash tag #GVcow.
In 2014, more than 630 students, staff, faculty and alumni
volunteers contributed to Community Outreach Week, and Grand Valley
leaders hope to increase the impact to 770 volunteer this year.
