Film and video alum to screen feature film at GVSU

Grand Valley alumnus Joel Potrykus, ’99, will return to the Allendale Campus to share post-graduation wisdom with students when he screens his highly acclaimed independent feature film, “Buzzard.” The screening will take place Wednesday, March 18, from 6-9 p.m. in Lake Superior Hall, room 154.

“Buzzard” features Marty, a small-time con artist. When Marty’s latest ruse goes wrong, extreme paranoia forces him from his small town temp job to the streets of Detroit with nothing more than a pocket full of counterfeit checks, a dangerously altered Nintendo Power Glove and a bad temper.

“Buzzard” is the final installment in Potrykus’ Animal Trilogy, following the 2010 Super 8 short film “Coyote,” and his 2012 feature film “Ape,” which earned Potrykus the Best Emerging Director award at the 2014 Locarno Film Festival.

A Q&A session will follow the screening. For more information about the film, visit buzzardfilm.com. For more information about the screening, call the School of Communications at (616) 331-3668.
