Grand Valley named Best in the Midwest for 2016

Grand Valley State University has been named one of the best universities in the Midwest by The Princeton Review.

Grand Valley was one of 159 colleges and universities chosen for the annual "Best in the Midwest" section of the website's "2016 Best Colleges: Region by Region" feature.

Only 25 percent of the nation's colleges and universities are selected to one of the regional lists, according to The Princeton Review. Schools were selected primarily for excellent academic programs. Student feedback from individual surveys was also taken into account.

Students were asked to rate their own schools on several issues, from accessibility of professors to the quality of food on campus, and answer questions about their experiences and campus life. Grand Valley students said the university has "a small college feel with the opportunities of a large university" and described small class sizes and professors who are invested in the success of their students.

Grand Valley State University, one of the 100 largest universities in the nation, attracts more than 25,000 students with high-quality programs and state-of-the-art facilities. Grand Valley is a comprehensive university serving students from all 83 Michigan counties and dozens of other states and foreign countries. Grand Valley offers 86 undergraduate and 36 graduate degree programs from campuses in Allendale, Grand Rapids and Holland, and from regional centers in Muskegon, Traverse City and Detroit. The university is dedicated to individual student achievement, going beyond the traditional classroom experience with research opportunities and business partnerships.

The Princeton Review (www.PrincetonReview.com) is a New York-based company known for its test preparation courses, books, college admission and other education services.
