Johnson Center, BBB host nonprofit leadership series

The Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley and the Better Business Bureau are kicking off a month-long lunch-and-learn series on Wednesday, June 3, that will help educate nonprofit leaders about charity effectiveness and nonprofit management issues.

The lunch-and-learn starts with a presentation by Kathy Crosby, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, and Bob Barnes, president of Senior Neighbors.

Crosby will discuss how to incorporate BBB charity standards into nonprofit organizations, and Barnes will discuss why it is valuable for nonprofits to distinguish themselves as organizations committed to accountability and transparency.

The presentations will take place from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy, 201 Front Avenue Southwest, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.

Presentations will also take place on June 10 and June 24. Future presenters include Ron Nelson, president and CEO of YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids; Karen Kaashoek, executive director of Catherine's Health Center; Peggy Bishop, partner at Beene Garter LLP; and Janet Zahn, senior project manager at Kennari Consulting.
