Laker football on ESPN3; watch party scheduled

The #12 ranked Grand Valley State Lakers football team will square off against #5 ranked Shepherd Saturday, Dec. 12. at noon.

The game can be viewed on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN mobile app and students can take part in a watch party that will take place Saturday at noon in the Pere Marquette Room in the Kirkhof Center. 

Fans can also listen to the game on the 15-station Grand Valley State radio network, including flagship station ESPN 96.1. Pregame will begin at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN 96.1. 

About 160 members of the Laker Marching Band will travel to West Virginia with the team.

Tickets for the game can be purchased at the Ram Stadium ticket office beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. All tickets are $10 and general admission, however, a block of 500 seats have been saved for Laker fans directly behind the GVSU bench.

Grand Valley State is making its 17th trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs, the third highest total among active DII schools. In addition, Grand Valley's 34 wins and .732 winning percentage both rank second all-time in DII playoff history. 

Grand Valley is 34-11 all-time in the NCAA DII playoffs, including a 34-6 mark since 2001. The team is 7-2 in the NCAA playoffs under Mitchell and 6-1 since 2013. The Lakers have won four NCAA DII National Championships since 2002 and advanced to the NCAA title game six times since 2001. Grand Valley has advanced to at least the semifinals nine times since 2001. The Lakers advanced to the semifinals in 2013 before dropping a 27-13 to eventual National Champion Northwest Missouri State.
