Twenty-eight people graduated from the GVSU Police Academy August 13 and six graduated from the Military Police Veterans Academy August 7.

Williamson Wallace, director of Criminal Justice Training, said the ceremonies marked the 41st graduating class for the Police Academy and the third for the Military Police Veterans Academy.

Wallace has managed the programs since he was named director in January, a position he also held at Grand Valley from 2003-2008. He has taught in the School of Criminal Justice since 2003.

Wallace is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing law enforcement training programs.

He is a licensed attorney and earned a law degree from Thomas Cooley Law School. He has served as an assistant federal security director for the Transportation Security Administration and is a Gulf War veteran. Wallace has testified before the state House and Senate Appropriations Committees on law enforcement training initiatives and facilitated a multi-jurisdictional Homeland Security emergency exercise.
