Soccer tournament draws international teams

The Padnos International Center hosted its first soccer tournament for international students from Grand Valley and other Michigan institutions.
The tournament was held October 4 at the AYSO Fields in Hudsonville. Three teams from Grand Valley were joined by teams from Central Michigan University and Washtenaw Community College.
Kate Stoetzner, director of international student and scholar services, said she hopes it becomes an annual event.
“It was fun to see international students building relationships through a sport they love,” Stoetzner said.
The ELS-Grand Rapids team won the tournament, beating CMU on a penalty kick. The ELS Language Center is located in Au Sable Hall.
