Student, alumnus selected for student Fulbright, alternate spots
Grand Valley student Irma Ramirez, a sociology major from Grand Rapids, has been offered a U.S. Student Fulbright Scholarship for the 2015-16 Fulbright U.S. Student Program cycle to teach English in Guatemala.
Ramirez was one of two students selected for the highly competitive post nationwide.
Alumnus Seth Price, from Ferndale, was selected as an alternate for a U.S. Student Fulbright grant for the 2015-16 academic year to conduct research and study in Jordan. Price may be extended the grant should an awardee be unable to fulfill the opportunity.
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant programs places grantees in schools overseas to supplement local English language instruction and to provide a native speaker presence in classrooms. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program also offers other types of grants, including study/research and travel grants. Graduating seniors and alumni who are interested in applying for the U.S. Student Fulbright Program to serve as an English Teaching Assistant or to conduct study/research should contact the Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships at [email protected], (616) 331-2699, or by visiting 230 Mary Idema Pew Library. Applications for the 2016-17 academic year opened March 31. The deadline is September 25.
