More than 20 Grand Valley students toured the Islamic Mosque and Religious Institute in Kentwood on September 18 for a community engagement project.

The tour was arranged jointly by the Padnos International Center and the Kaufman Interfaith Institute.

Libby Jawish, international student integration coordinator, said the group observed prayer and then held a discussion with a mosque leader. The students then helped organize the mosque's food pantry, enjoyed lunch and toured the nearby Super Green Market.

Ahmed Jeddeeni, a new faculty member who teaches Arabic, joined the tour.
