The 38th season of the Arts at Noon concert series continues with two free concerts in March — a world-renowned expert in Indian classical music, and an award-winning jazz trio.

Ustad Shafaat Khan will share his rich history with Indian classical music on Wednesday, March 23. During his career, Khan has performed at many prestigious concert halls, music festivals and universities across India, the U.S., Europe, China, Russian and Japan. Recently, he performed with 22-time Grammy award-winner Stevie Wonder at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. In the past, Khan has also shared the stage with Ray Charles in Germany. Khan has distinguished himself by being the first known artist to master sitar, surbahar and tabla. During his performance, Khan will be joined by two of his longtime students, CocoSol Bastien and Adi Shivprasad.

Pianist, composer and arranger Gene Knific has performed around the world presenting an extensive and diverse repertoire with a wide array of artists, such as jazz stars Joe Lovano and Miguel Zenón. His band, Gene Knific Trio will perform a unique blend of styles spanning from jazz classics and 20th-century classical compositions to rock and folk, on Wednesday, March 30. The trio also performs compositions by Knific, which have won multiple awards on the jazz and chamber music circuit.

All Arts at Noon concerts are free, open to the public, begin at noon, last approximately one hour and take place in the Cook-DeWitt Center on the Allendale Campus.
