Ford documentary airs May 27 on National Geographic

Gleaves Whitney, director of Grand Valley's Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies, has spent part of the past two years serving on an advisory committee for a documentary about the life and legacy of President Gerald R. Ford, which will air for the first time on May 27 at 9 p.m. on the National Geographic Channel.

The documentary, "Gerald R. Ford: A Test of Character" focuses on the Grand Rapids native's life and time in office. The Hauenstein Center was given a unique preview of select clips of the film at an event in November.

The documentary was produced by former U.S. ambassador Peter F. Secchia. Whitney had the opportunity to interview the philanthropist and businessman about the documentary on May 25 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. That interview can be seen below.
