Joel Stillerman, professor of sociology, was interviewed by Joaquin Arrosamena about Stillerman's research on geography and labor mobilization in Chile for La Maquila.

Donna Rinker, visiting professor of nursing, gave a presentation, “Total Health/ Oral Health: Implementing the Team Approach to Oral Health in Primary Care,” at the Michigan Rural Health Conference in Mt. Pleasant.

John Berry, director of the Design Thinking Initiative, gave a presentation, "The Importance of Students Thinking Outside Their Majors to Participate in Interdisciplinary Collaborations to Solve Problems," at the national conference of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design in Miami, Florida

Amy Manderscheid, assistant professor of nursing, gave a presentation, "Improving Teamwork and Communication through Simulation: A Case Study," at "High Reliability – The Basics" Conference sponsored by Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.

Melissa Morison, associate professor of Classics, gave a presentation, "Taking Out the Trash: Resilience and Reuse in a Late Roman Urban Space," at the Society for American Archaeology conference in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Mary O'Kelly, head of instructional services for University Libraries, gave a presentation, "Student Retention Three Ways: Numbers, People, and Stories," at the Texas Library Association Conference in San Antonio.

Mario Fific, assistant professor of psychology, served as co-editor of a book, Systems Factorial Technology: A Theory Driven Methodology for the Identification of Perceptual and Cognitive Mechanisms, published by Elsevier.

Terry Pahl, facilities engineer, gave a presentation, "Higher Education Approach to Energy Projects," as a panelist at the Michigan Battle of the Buildings 2017 Energy Summit and Award Ceremony in Grand Rapids.
