Grand Valley Magazine buzzed with students and faculty members who are researching honeybee habitats and health.

The fall issue of the quarterly publication will be mailed to homes soon; get an early peek at stories, content and videos at gvsu.edu/gvmagazine.

The GVSU Beekeepers also organize community outreach activities to educate people about the species’ importance. Students and faculty members extracted 360 pounds of honey from hives in Holland and Allendale to bottle and sell on campus.

Other stories in the fall issue include:

• An inside look at the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Center for Performing Arts;

• Graduates of Grand Valley's physician assistant studies program are successfully filling a need for more health care providers;

• Funding for international education programs for students who otherwise might not be able to afford to study abroad;

• Q&A with the biology professor who spent 45 days at NASA for a "space camp on steroids."
