More than 1,000 students will participate in Grand Valley State University's commencement ceremony December 9 at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids.
Students will hear an address from Gayle R. Davis, who will receive an honorary degree. Davis served as Grand Valley's provost and executive vice president for Academic and Student Affairs from 2002 until her retirement in June. During that time, Davis successfully aligned academic operations, programs and budgets as the university grew in size, complexity and reputation.
