President Thomas J. Haas joined Gov. Rick Snyder at the Mackinac Policy Conference June 1 to report results of the 21st Century Education Commission.

Haas chaired the commission, which was created by Snyder in 2016, and spoke to conference participants about the commission's four principal recommendations: universal access to preschool education, focus on student success, governmental accountability, and improved teacher preparation.

The full report is available online at https://www.michigan.gov/snyder/0,4668,7-277-61409_81147---,00.html. Haas and other members of the 25-member commission conducted a listening tour around the state to gather input before submitting a report to Snyder in March.

The Mackinac Policy Conference is held annually on Mackinac Island and hosted by the Detroit Regional Chamber.
