Health Forum series begins with focus on health care jobs

The monthly Health Forum of West Michigan series begins its new year with a panel discussion that focuses on the supply and demand of health care jobs, and how higher education institutions are working to meet the needs of industry employers and employees.

"The Health Care Talent Pipeline" is set for Friday, October 6, at 8 a.m. in the DeVos Center, Loosemore Auditorium; a light breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. The series is hosted by the Office of the Vice Provost for Health; monthly meetings are free and open to the public.

Panelists are Norman Beauchamp, dean of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; Laurie Chelsey, provost, Grand Rapids Community College; Maria Cimitile, provost, Grand Valley; Pamela Ries, senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Spectrum Health; and Wanda Stokes, director of the Talent Investment Agency for the state of Michigan. Jean Nagelkerk, vice provost for Health, will serve as moderator.

Health Forum of West Michigan partners are Grand Valley's Office of the Vice Provost for Health, MSU College of Human Medicine, Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research Center, and the Michigan Center for Clinical Systems Improvement. The series is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
