Homecoming events fall under 'Vintage Valley'

Homecoming 2018 offers a full slate of activities Friday and Saturday, October 5-6, under the theme, "Vintage Valley." 

Several key events are listed below; visit gvsu.edu/homecoming for details. Two events are scheduled for Thursday, October 4: Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies will host an Outstanding Alumni Panel from 3-5 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, and Seidman College of Business will host an alumni social at Founder's Brewing Co., 235 Grandville Ave. SW, from 5:30-8 p.m.

• Homecoming 5K Run/Walk: will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kelly Family Sports Center; awards will be given to top runners and a raffle will be held. Cost is $30 for adults, $25 for students; participants will receive a post-race breakfast. 

• Alumni Brunch: will feature a panel of Laker entrepreneurial alumni, set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Kirkhof Center; cost is $15.

• Laker Alumni Marching Band: alumni band members are invited to perform with the Laker Marching Band at pregame and halftime; the full alumni band will rehearse at 2 p.m. at the Haas Center for Performing Arts.

• Alumni Tailgate and Beer Garden: reunite with fellow Lakers at a family-friendly tailgate from 4-7 p.m. by the outdoor basketball courts; a children's tent will offer crafts and games at the same time period.

• Football: The Laker football team will host Dixie State at 7 p.m. at Lubbers Stadium.
