Lowe named acting general manager of WGVU Public Media

Jay Lowe has been named acting general manager of WGVU Public Media, effective June 30. Lowe has served as assistant general manager of WGVU since being hired in 2015.

Lowe is a longtime television professional; before coming to WGVU he worked at WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids where he was promoted to management and served as operations supervisor.

In February, he was honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the Silver Circle Award for his 34 years of service in the television industry. 

Lowe earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree from Grand Valley.

"Jay is a consummate professional with a consistent record of success in public and commercial broadcasting," said Matt McLogan, vice president for University Relations. "Jay is a thoughtful listener with a style that fits perfectly at WGVU and Grand Valley."

Lowe replaces current general manager Michael Walenta who will retire June 29.
