Photos: Lakers hit it out of the ballpark at Tigers game
For the second year in a row, more than 1,500 Lakers attended the sold-out GVSU Night at Comerica Park event July 31 in Detroit.
Laker pride could be seen in the stands and on the field with performances by the Grand Valley Pompon Team and Euphoria, the university's student a cappella group. Board of Trustees member Victor Cardenas threw the first pitch. Prior to the game, a special tailgate event took place at Grand Valley's Detroit Center.
The Tigers organization donated $5 from each ticket purchased to the Grand Valley Scholarship Fund, a general fund dedicated to supporting students through scholarships. A total of $7,290 was raised.
The event, organized by Alumni Relations, was a special opportunity for Grand Valley students, faculty and staff members, alumni, friends and family to join as a community and celebrate the university at a Tigers game.
The Detroit Tigers played against the Cincinnati Reds and won, 2-1.
