Students, faculty to showcase research impacting global health

Research and service work on disease prevention, clinical care and overall health and well-being will be displayed at the 2018 Global Health Showcase.

The event, sponsored by the College of Health Professions, will take place October 5, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the L. William Seidman Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus. 

A light breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. The event is free with a registration deadline of September 30. To register, visit www.gvsu.edu/gh and click on GH Showcase.

The showcase will feature local and international speakers, as well as poster presentations highlighting student and faculty research. The theme for the showcase is "Global Health Unites Health Professionals."

A keynote address will be given by Justice Bawole, associate professor and chair of the Department for Public Administration and Health Services Management at the University of Ghana Business School.

Bawole will present, "Our Globe, Our Profession, and Our Influence: Paradoxes of Advances and Global Health Inequities."

Azizur Molla, associate professor of public health, said global activities at Grand Valley include exploring new study abroad and practicum opportunities, expanding national and international research and service collaboration, and creating and strengthening global health partnerships in different world regions.
