TEDxGVSU seeks speakers for 2019 event

Applications are open for speakers who have ideas to share at TEDxGVSU. The event is set for March 15 at the DeVos Center, Loosemore Auditorium, on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

Conference planners are looking for interdisciplinary speakers and performers to share their past experiences, current projects, and future ideas to promote critical inquiry, innovation and dialogue. The theme for TEDxGVSU 2019 is “Grow.” Subcategories include Sprouting from Difficult Situations, Blossoming Individuality, Growth in Society and Harvesting Health.

“From the moment we enter this world, we begin to grow,” said Emily Gagnon, marketing coordinator. “The word ‘grow’ is applicable in every avenue of our lives. While success or security is not guaranteed in our paths, the expansion of our identity, society and technology should never stop. Every concept starts small and is nurtured through synergy and cultivation.”

Jaclyn Ermoyan, TEDxGVSU event co-curator, said for many people, speaking at a TEDx event would be a dream come true.

“People in Michigan are doing amazing things that should be shared with the world," Ermoyan said. "I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring this platform to reality for the top thinkers and innovators in the community.”

TEDx speakers must come from a range of disciplines, have ideas that are realistic and new (to most), and present talks in 18 minutes or less.

The deadline to submit applications is December 14.
