GVSU to celebrate life of César Chávez
The former press secretary for César E. Chávez is the keynote speaker for a Grand Valley event celebrating the life of Chávez, a labor leader and civil rights activist who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962.
Marc Grossman, spokesperson for the César Chávez Foundation and the United Farm Workers of America, will give a presentation about why Chávez's legacy remains relevant today.
The event will take place March 21 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room.
Grossman knew Chávez the last 24 years of his life, serving most of the time as his press secretary, speechwriter and personal aide.
The event is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Latino Student Union. For more information, visit gvsu.edu/oma.
March 31 is César Chávez Day, the federal holiday that celebrates the legacy of Chávez.
