KCON students share knowledge at Bodies Revealed exhibition
About 20 nursing students volunteered at the Grand Rapids Public Museum November 16, interacting with guests at the Bodies Revealed exhibition during its opening weekend.
Triet Vu, a junior international student from Vietnam, was among the Kirkhof College of Nursing Student Nursing Association members who answered questions from guests.
The exhibition, open through the spring, features real, whole and partial body specimens that have been preserved. The widely traveled exhibit allows people to learn about their own bodies and make positive lifestyle choices.
Vu enjoyed the exhibit and the volunteer experience. "I tried to answer people's questions while figuring out how much they know about the human body," he said.
Vu said he has always wanted to work in health care and nursing "directly impacts a patient's experience through quality, patient-centered care."
SNA and members of the KCON alumni association will volunteer at the museum several times through February.
Bob Johnson, affiliate faculty of nursing, will have students from his pathophysiology class present posters tied to specimens at the museum on December 5.
