Lawmaker honors GVPD for 50th anniversary

State Rep. Luke Meerman, R-Polkton Township, honored members of the Grand Valley Police Department as GVPD celebrates 50 years on campus.

Meerman visited the Allendale Campus September 16 to present a plaque to Police Chief Brandon DeHaan and members of the department.

Meerman thanked officers for their dedication to students, faculty and staff members, and their commitment to protecting and supporting the Grand Valley community.

Grand Valley established a police department on the Allendale Campus in 1969, founded on community policing. Read more here in Grand Valley Magazine.
