Photo Gallery: President-elect Mantella tours GVSU campuses
One day after being elected the fifth, and first woman, president of Grand Valley State University, Philomena V. Mantella spent the day touring campus buildings meeting students, faculty, staff members and even Louie the Laker.
Tour stops included the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences, University Development, John C. Kennedy Hall of Engineering, Disability Support Resources, the Fieldhouse, and various classrooms and administrative offices. She also met students while riding The Rapid campus connector and bought her first round of Laker gear in the Laker Store.
The Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Mantella to the presidency during a special board meeting held on the Allendale Campus January 22. She will begin her duties July 1. Read the full story here.
