GVSU Police Academy students continued a tradition of community service by distributing LED light bulbs and crime prevention brochures to residents in Grand Rapids.

Thirty-nine students handed out 960 LED light bulbs on June 21 to residents living in Grand Rapids' West Side neighborhoods.

"This was an opportunity for students to positively interact with members of the community and experience selfless service," said Billy Wallace, director of the GVSU Police Academy. "By providing lighting for entrances and crime prevention tips, we hope to give residents tools for making their neighborhood safer."
