Kyle Boone has been named director of Housing and Residence Life in the Division of Student Affairs. Andy Beachnau, associate vice provost for Student Affairs, has served as director of Housing and Residence Life since 1994.

Boone is currently the director of Student Housing and Residential Education at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), a position he has held since 2015. He has more than 16 years of experience in budget and department operations, experiential programming and student retention. He holds a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Louisville, a master's degree in education administration and leadership from the University of the Pacific and a doctoral degree in higher education from Louisiana State University.

Loren Rullman, vice provost for Student Affairs and dean of students, said Boone’s reputation as a passionate student advocate, informed professional and energetic colleague are superb combinations for the role.

“He is important to our leadership team and to accomplishing our university objectives for an engaging, learning-oriented and vibrant campus experience,” Rullman said. “I am absolutely thrilled he is joining our team.”

Beachnau said after an extensive national search, GVSU has found an extraordinary leader to join the team. “I am excited to welcome Dr. Kyle Boone as he begins this important leadership role at GVSU,” he said.

Boone has also served as adjunct faculty and has an interest in the lived experiences of historically marginalized populations in higher education. Prior to his position at GGC, Boone was director of Campus Life at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas.

Boone will begin his duties July 20.
