GVSU recreation and athletic facilities reopen doors after months-long closure

Some of Grand Valley’s athletic and recreation facilities reopened their doors Monday, Sept. 14 after much of the equipment was left unused for months.

Certain athletic and recreation facilities, all of which closed in March, were permitted to reopen when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order to reopen gyms and pools in regions where they remained closed.

New procedures and protocols have been put in place as part of the reopening process. Everyone who visits a GVSU athletic or recreation facility is required to complete the Lakers Together self-assessment. The facilities are open to GVSU students, faculty, staff and members. Daily user passes will not be for sale.

Wearing a face covering over the nose and mouth will be required for entry to all GVSU athletic and recreation facilities. Face shields are not permitted in place of a face covering.
