Grand Valley students and alumni will have the opportunity to network and develop skills during a two-week, fully virtual professional development and career conference with several tracks.
The Work Like a Laker conference, hosted by the GVSU Career Center, begins October 1 and includes the Fall Career and Internship Fair on October 15.
Pre-conference activities include Interactive sessions in which attendees will build career materials, practice introductions and interviews, learn how to dress for success and map out a career fair strategy.
Professional development workshops and panel presentations will address current and pressing topics related to workplace and graduate/professional school issues.
Industry information sessions have also been designed for attendees to engage with employers and industry professionals to learn more about career pathways, industries and specific companies.
The Work Like a Laker conference is free and people interested in attending are encouraged to register for events/sessions ahead of time. While some events, such as major exploration, are aimed for current GVSU students, alumni are welcome to attend.
The virtual Career and Internship Fair will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. People interested in attending should download the Career Fair Plus app in the iOS App Store or Google Play Store in preparation for the event.
More than 100 employers are expected to attend the fair and will represent a variety of industries and fields of study.
