Diver earns two individual national championships

Led by sophomore Gracyn Segard, Grand Valley's women's swimming and diving team took fifth place at the NCAA Division II National Championships March 20 in Birmingham, Alabama, while the men's team finished in eighth place.

Segard, from Grandville, won individual national championships on the 1- and 3-meter diving boards. She was also named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Diver of the Year.

The men's team was led by Eric Hieber's third-place finish in the 1,650-meter freestyle, while Jesse Goodyear finished in eighth place in the same event.
