Truss, free-tuition program highlighted in journal
B. Donta Truss, vice president for Enrollment Development and Educational Outreach, was highlighted in the May issue of Enrollment Management Report, discussing how the Grand Valley Pledge will help close the equity gap in education.
The Grand Valley Pledge, which launched in February, awards full undergraduate tuition (renewable for four years) to qualified students from counties where the university has a physical presence: Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Grand Traverse, Calhoun and Wayne.
In the article, Truss said Admissions staff members were concerned how the COVID-19 pandemic would impact enrollment. Truss pulled together a strategic enrollment task force to consider what changes were needed to recruit and retain students.
“Even what seems like a small financial gap may be a huge gap for some, and we don’t want that stopping anyone,” Truss said in the article.
