GVSU to celebrate Black History Month with events throughout February, March

Grand Valley’s Office of Multicultural Affairs will host events throughout February and March in celebration of Black History Month. 

The events include an array of educational conversations and opportunities for students to connect with Black student groups and organizations. Those interested in learning more or participating can register here

The first event will be held on Friday, February 3, from 6-8 p.m. in Kirkhof Center lobby. “The Blackout: Black Student Organization Showcase” is an opportunity for students to engage with Black and Afro-led registered student organizations and learn about how they can get involved. Attendees can enjoy food, music and games with Black and Afro-led registered student organizations.

National Pan-Hellenic Council Night with GVSU Basketball

  • Thursday, February 9 
  • 6 p.m. (Women’s game) and 8 p.m. (Men’s game)
  • Location: GVSU Fieldhouse Arena

Taste of Soul

  • Friday, February 17
  • 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Location: Holton-Hooker Living and Learning Center (HHLC) – Multipurpose Room

For the Culture: Quiz Bowl

  • Friday, March 17 
  • 2-5 p.m.
  • Location: DeVos Center (Pew Campus) – Charles W. Loosemore Auditorium (DEV122E)
