Grand Valley opens the GLIAC portion of its schedule on October 5, facing crosstown rival Davenport at the Panthers’ home field, Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Kickoff is noon.
Saturday’s game against Davenport marks the seventh matchup between the teams with the Lakers winning the previous six meetings.
The Panthers (3-1) are led by running back Myren Harris, who was named the GLIAC’s Offensive Back of the Year and first team All-GLIAC in 2023.
The Lakers (4-0) enter Saturday’s game after a 31-7 victory over visiting West Florida last weekend.
The Argonauts were ranked at No. 20 in the nation, but the Lakers put together a dominating effort. Grand Valley sacked West Florida quarterback Marcus Stokes eight times in the game and barely gave him room to run the Argonauts’ offense.
