GVSU Women's Basketball advances to Division II Final Four

The GVSU women's basketball team won its Elite Eight matchup against the Gannon University Golden Knights in 60-32 victory. It was the Lakers' third Elite Eight appearance in the past 10 years, and the win marks their third time advancing to the Final Four.

GVSU will take on the Pittsburg State University Gorillas in the Final Four on March 26 at 8:30 p.m. The Gorillas finished their regular season with a 33-3 record, including a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament championship, claiming a four-seed in the Division II tournament.

A 36-2 record regular season and a GLIAC Tournament victory propelled the Lakers into a first seed in the Division II tournament. Wins over Quincy University, Wayne State University and Ashland University in the Midwest Regional of the bracket brought the team to Monday's game against Gannon at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh.
