New interactive library exhibit seeks to create a sense of home
It's not uncommon for first-year students to miss their family and friends back home. A new exhibit at the Mary Idema Pew Library is designed to help students combat feelings of homesickness and feel a greater sense of belonging.

Students receive 'waves of good wishes' during final exams
About 1,000 "waves of wishes" are displayed on the library windows, wishing students good luck during finals week.

Professor translates children's poetry from Holocaust era for exhibit
French Surrealist poet Robert Desnos brought hope in the face of despair as he wrote children's poetry while living in Nazi-occupied France. Kirsten Strom, professor of art history, is sharing Desnos' vision of hope with a new generation. A selection of her translations and illustrations of Desnos' work is currently on display in the "Apple Blossom and Nightingale" exhibit in Mary Idema Pew Library through January 30.
