Description
This workshop will provide knowledge and insight into understanding the use and application of what a Land Acknowledgement really means. Topics covered will include Native American identity dynamics, tribal nation and tribal citizen sovereignty, understanding treaties between federal government and the tribal nations.
Learning Outcomes - Participants will be able to:
- Understand Native American Identity to provide better understanding on how to interact with Natives.
- Have a basic understanding of what tribal sovereignty is, and how sovereignty applies to tribal citizens.
- Have a basic understanding of how treaties between the federal government and tribal nations were enacted, along with preserving certain rights for tribal nations.
- Have an understanding of the purpose and intent of Land Acknowledgements and their application/implementation.

- Rob Larson (He/Him/His) Affiliate Professor of Natural Resource and Environmental Management. As well as tribal Citizen with Nottawasseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indians
