Reported Biased Incidents Summary

Fall Semester 2010

 

There were seventeen (17) biased incidents reported to the Dean of Students Office during the fall semester 2010 although six (6) were not considered biased incidents. All biased incidents occurred on the Allendale campus with 4 reported in housing areas, 2 reported in the Kirkhof Center, 2 reported in academic buildings, 1 reported in the Connection, and 2 reported in the library. Reports included 5 incidents regarding sexual orientation with one of those including race as well, 4 incidents regarding race, 1 incident regarding religion, and 1 incident regarding gender. Six incidents involved anonymous written comments and five incidents involved comments made by individuals. All reported incidents were investigated and appropriate follow-up actions were taken and support was provided to victim(s) and/or the reporting individual.
