Description

What is Ridván?

  • Ridván (which means “paradise” in Arabic) is a 12-day festival in the Bahá’í tradition.
  • It celebrates the founding of the Bahá’í faith in 1863 by commemorating its founder, Bahá’u’lláh, and his declaration that he was a Manifestation of God.
  • The first day of Ridván is one of the most important holy days for Bahá’ís, and as such, many Bahá’ís will refrain from working or going to school.
  • It is a time of gathering, prayer, and great celebration!
