Interfaith and Interwoven Summary

Over the summer, Grand Rapids' Central Reformed Church and the Kaufman Interfaith Institute hosted a Year of Interfaith Service project - Interfaith & Interwoven – which had eight sessions where over 60 participants knit 26 hats, 14 baby caps, 6 scarves, 5 baby blankets, 5 lap blankets, and 4 pairs of mittens. All of the knitted projects were sent to local, state-wide, national, and international partner organizations!

Participation was an intergenerational effort. During the sessions, questions were placed at tables to spark discussion regarding the topic of interfaith. For those who were unfamiliar with how to knit, help was provided from experienced individuals.

Donations were given to:

  • West Michigan Refugee Education and Cultural Center
  • Gilda’s Club
  • Knit Michigan
  • Warm up America (partnered with hospitals and the Red Cross)
  • Knit with Love
  • World Vision: Knit for Kids

Amazing things can happen when we come together!
