Kaufman Interfaith Institute announces the 2019 schedule for the “Reading Each Other’s Scriptures” discussion group.
Originally called “Scriptural Reasoning,” it began at Cambridge University as a process for bringing together Jewish, Christian, and Muslim believers to share each person’s scripture and his or her relationship to those writings. For those from other faith traditions the program can also include you and your scriptural heritage. It is a tool for inter-faith dialogue whereby people of different faiths come together to read and reflect on their scriptures.
It is not about seeking agreement but rather exploring the texts and their possible interpretations across faith boundaries. The result is often a deeper understanding of others' and one’s own scriptures, as well as the development of strong bonds across faith communities.
Dates for Fall 2019 will include:
-
September 17
-
October 15
-
October 29
-
November 12
-
December 10
This calendar allows breaks for Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas.
