Zoom Updates April 2023

New Zoom Client Features

Meeting Features

  • Continuous Meeting Chat file and images synchronization (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS) - Files and images shared during the meeting will synchronize with the dedicated group chat created for the meeting. This allows participants to access them after the meeting. In the same fashion, files and images shared in the dedicated meeting group chat will synchronize with in-meeting chat. This feature will not be immediately available, as it is dependent on a backend server update currently scheduled for May 8, 2023.
  • Zoom IQ Meeting Summary (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS) - Users can enable this feature to take advantage of the wealth of information generated in meetings. After it's enabled on the web portal, the smart summary will create transcripts of your meetings, including next steps for participants. All meeting participants will be notified that the summary is being generated, and the meeting host can stop the smart summary if necessary.

Team Chat Features

  • Adding guest participants to dedicated group chat for Continuous Meeting Chat (Windows, macOS) - When the host ends a meeting with Continuous Meeting Chat enabled and guest participants in attendance, the host will be prompted to review the guest attendees and choose if they want them added to the group chat and continue having access to the discussion. By default, guest participants, which are participants not directly invited to the meeting through the calendar event, only have access to the chat discussion while in the meeting.
  • Additional supported languages for Message Translation (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS) - The following additional languages are supported: Arabic, Hebrew, Bangla, Danish, Indonesian, Malay, Norwegian, Tagalog, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, and Swedish.

Mail and Calendar Features

  • Out-of-office notice for internal recipients (Windows, macOS) - When emailing an internal recipient who has their status set to Out of Office, users will be notified of that recipient’s current status. This can set the expectation that the recipient may not respond promptly.

Contact Center Features

  • Address book contacts for chat and video (Windows, macOS) - Agents can add web chat and video consumers to the address book. This applies to in-app and web engagements in the chat and video channel. When agents receive an engagement, they will see the associated contact's information.

New Zoom Phone Features

  •
  • Spam call detection and blocking - Account owners and admins can enable automatic spam call tagging or blocking, subject to their consent. Users will be able to mark calls as spam in their individual client call log. Any calls that are blocked will be recorded in the call log as being blocked by the spam filter. If the filter wrongly categorizes a phone number as spam, the admin can whitelist that number to exclude it from the filtering system. Moreover, admins can choose to not enable this feature and have Zoom alert their users that they should manually block calls that they suspect are spam.

New Zoom Events Features

  • Zoom Events Chat Etiquette Tool - Zoom Events account owners and admins can create Chat Etiquette policies to identify defined keywords or text patterns/regular expressions (such as account numbers) and then determine what action occurs when a policy is triggered. When a user attempts to send a message through Zoom  Events chat and/or in-meeting/webinar chat that triggers a Chat Etiquette policy, the user is either warned or blocked from sending the message. Chat Etiquette policies are configured at the account level in the Zoom web portal. Chat etiquette policies are also applied to Webinar Q&A content, in addition to in-meeting chat, in-webinar chat, and Zoom Events chat.
  • Enable or disable private chat -  Zoom Events admins can enable or disable private Zoom Events chat for the account while maintaining public chats. This setting is configured at the account level in the Zoom web portal. This setting is enabled by default.

New Workspace Reservations Features

  • Enhancements to Workspace Reservation web portal - When users click their avatar on the floor map, a panel will display information about the workspace, where users can instantly delete and check in/check out of their reservation.

New Zoom Whiteboard Features

Admin Features

  • Custom disclaimer for whiteboard - Admins can create a custom disclaimer to display to whiteboard users before the whiteboard can be used. This feature is typically used to remind users not to input sensitive data to the whiteboard. Admins have the option to customize the disclaimer for internal and external collaborators, control its frequency of appearance, and choose any of the currently supported languages for the text.

New Zoom Virtual Agent Features

  • Salesforce integration with Knowledge Management - A new option within Knowledge Management has been added to connect to Salesforce and customize the content we pull in. With this new integration, users can connect to the Knowledge Items within Salesforce and use them for Q&A, similar to other CRM connections.
  • Support for ticket creation integration channel - Zoom Virtual Agent supports ticket creation integration channel, allowing businesses to seamlessly create tickets for customers who require additional support beyond what the bot can provide.
  • AI-generated training phrases - Zoom Virtual Agent account owners and admins can use a new tool to create intents with relevant training phrases. With this new tool, admins can define the number of generated training phrases, which will be based on the intent name and description. The generated training phrases can then be easily deleted if necessary. This tool aims to improve intent and model performance while saving time for admins.
