Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Deborah Bambini

The Kirkhof College of Nursing (KCON) lost a beloved colleague and friend on February 4th t to a brief cancer illness.  Dr. Deborah Bambini became an Emeritus faculty last November with her retirement after working at KCON for more than 25 years. 

She was part of the growth of the nursing programs from a department to a college, from Lake Michigan Hall to Henry Hall to the Center for Health Sciences, and finally helped plan for the move to the Center for Interprofessional Health. Through her generous donation, a study area in this building is dedicated to Dr. Bambini. Dr.

Bambini served on many college and university committees lending her teaching and leadership expertise to many.  Dr. Bambini’s scholarship was focused on simulation and experiential learning. She was a nationally recognized expert for her simulation research and published book chapters, presentations, consultation work. She developed and published simulation modules that are used by nursing programs across the nation.   Through her leadership at KCON,  she created a Faculty Simulation Team, mentored faculty to become simulation education certified, and expanded simulation learning in KCON’s undergraduate and graduate programs.  Dr. Bambini was a devoted mother, grandmother, colleague, and friend and will be sadly missed.
